Has anyone out there been kitesurfing FIJI?

I spent 3 weeks kiting in July this year, based from a yacht travelling around the Yasawas.

The season is quite long, though I would agree that August is a good time as the SE trades should be well established, and its pretty crapy in Melbourne then (always?). September and October are still good.

Bare in mind that the SE trade can blow very strongly for days on end (30 kn) and then back off to 15 for a week. So take a good quiver of kites.

Plantation will give you some of the easiest launching available in Fiji, but you always have to be on the look out for nasty little bits of coral.

To be honest, I reckon its pretty boring flat water sailing with little variation. So it depends on your type of sailing. There are some amazing waves to sail in Fiji, but unless you know someone witha boat, or can get to stay on Namotu Island (have a look on the web ........its sooooooooo good it is perpetually booked up, for ever).

So! If you want to go to Fiji to appease a girl while you kite, good choice.

It Hurts So Good!
